Great stay! The service was great, very helpful staff. There is so much to do in the location, and you can walk to all of it which was great since we didn't have a car. The staff are all knowledgeable about where to eat in the area or what to do. Room was nice for the price.

Wow! Could the front desk clerk have been ruder? I think not. After waiting 10 minutes to check in initially I had to wait another 15 minutes to try and change my room. I was given a converted conference room with no dead bolt and free access for intruders, that is to the parking lot. As a single female I wouldn't recommend staying there. For the budget traveler who is willing to sleep on a lumpy bed and overlook the stray hairs in the bathroom it is probably fine. I went 1/2 mile down the road to the Hyatt, where I was treated like a human being and loved the comfy room, flat screen TV and soft towels. Did I mention the Hyatt was the same price as the Strathallan. So, I guess sometimes you do get more than you pay for....if you stay at the Hyatt!

Fabulous location. Easy parking. However, not a good initial impression: Drove up to entrance. Blocked by doorman talking to cabbie at front door. Doorman looked up but didn't move nor did cab until a 2nd car pulled in behind us. Another doorman came out and assisted with our luggage. He was very pleasant as was all other staff. Updated, comfortable lobby. Room large and OK. Furnishings a little shabby, worn looking. Very dated. Looks like they're collecting the best leftovers and are using until all gets upgraded. Poor lighting throughout. Wonky dresser drawers. Kitchenette supplies missing (1 fork, 5 spoons, 2 bowls, 2 glasses, 1 plate, 4 sauce pans available in a room for 4) but appliances were good (frig, 2 burner stove, sink, microwave). Windows need a good cleaning. I understand upper floors have been/are being redone and are very nice. Bathroom ceiling very low. I am 5'2" and could touch the ceiling, imagine how uncomfortable my 6'2" husband was. About the price. We had a very good deal (found on travel on line) that included breakfast. We were there for a family wedding and estimate that there were 18 rooms taken by our party. The "special" room rate offered to our group was more per night and did not include breakfast. When the groom's mother called the hotel to inquire why such a difference their response was "do you want to cancel? OK, no problem." We were very satisfied with what we paid for what we got but I would not be happy if I had paid original amount and gotten less. By the way, the included breakfast was adequate but really uninspired and outrageously over priced if purchased

My husband and I stayed overnight for a concert at the Blue Cross Arena. Had a very clean and comfortable room, fantastic meal at the restaurant and their driver took us and picked us up from the concert. Hotel staff from the front desk, bartender, wait staff and driver gave us some of the best customer service we've had in a long time! Keep up the great work! We can't wait to go back!

This hotel has been our home away from home whenever we come up to visit family in Rochester. I am trying to find a better combination of price, comfort, and setting in Rochester and it just cannot be found. The hotel is smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood which adds to the charm of the hotel. A drawback is the lack of a pool. However, this place is perfect for a weekend getaway with all the museums, fine dining, and general city ambiance.
